De Verre bergen

De Verre Bergen (SDVB) is a venture philanthropic organization established in 2011, aiming to enhance the well-being of Rotterdam and its residents through the development, support, and execution of social programs. I am a member of the board of De Verre Bergen.

Key Initiatives:

Educational Programs: SDVB has launched initiatives like the Kinderfaculteit in Pendrecht, offering extracurricular activities to help children discover and develop their talents.  Additionally, the foundation established Epos Onderwijs Rotterdam, a primary school in Zuidwijk focusing on individualized student growth and teacher professional development.

Community Support: The foundation initiated Moeders van Rotterdam, providing intensive three-year home visitation programs for vulnerable pregnant women to promote healthy pregnancies and safe postpartum periods. Another notable project is Nieuw Thuis Rotterdam, which assisted 200 Syrian refugee families in integrating into Dutch society by providing housing, language courses, and participation lessons.

Financial and Legal Assistance: The foundation supports programs like Nieuw Vaarwater, offering financial services and debt assistance to Rotterdam residents, and Je Goed Recht, providing legal aid and advice to those in need.

Overall, Stichting De Verre Bergen has made substantial contributions to Rotterdam's social fabric by addressing educational disparities, supporting vulnerable populations, and enriching the city's cultural landscape.
